Stratus YouTube Channel

Following on form Chris’ previous post, we will soon have more cool stuff to show you. The the team have been working flat out on the RIA controls, but also having a bit of fun hacking with them. We have set up a PBBI Stratus youtube channel. Not much there at the moment but we will start to show you some examples of the RIA controls and mashups. There is some very funky stuff in the labs, that we will share with you over the next couple of weeks.

Here is a little promo for Stratus… a little cheesy (took me 10mins to edit) but I wanted have a little play with this web app

Also here is a little video of Stratus Connect if you have yet to see it.

As always.. head back or rss subscribe -- and keep up to date.

Cheers

Beer For Screenshots…

Beer for Screenshots - A bit like cash for questions. Only different.

Beer for Screenshots - A bit like cash for questions. Only different.

Here at PBBI our Sales Engineers (SE’s) are busily using Stratus Connect – and like many eagerly awaiting the RIA Controls to emerge. So when Mark started challenging them to provide images and uses of what they were up to, he realised that they respond much better to the reward of beer for the best stories. Well I’m keeping well out of the beer side, partly because I haven’t paid my dues to a couple of sales yet. However one of our SE’s, Jarno Seegers, did send some information showing how he has created a scenario using the “Dataflow” product to merge a number of different datasets in the back into a single Oracle database and used Connect to show all this to the user. The end result was that very quickly the user can search for policy numbers, addresses and postcodes within Connect.

After the acquisition of MapInfo by Pitney Bowes and now the formation of the Business Insight division, we’re very pleased to be able to bring to our customer base these kind of solutions to help people solve their business problems. I have talked to several customers about the possibilities now available and it’s great to see this transferring into reality. Please also note for our readers in Worthing- all data is fictitious in the above examples.

London Office Open Invitation

City Office - Photo by Luke Robinson

City Office - Photo by Luke Robinson

If you ever find yourself in London with a spare few hours (even 20 minutes to kill) feel free to drop into the London City office for a chat. Drop us a line in advance with a couple of days notice if possible. We are always delighted to talk about all things Spatial and Geoweb, plus show you developments from the Labs. It would be good to hear from you. Plus we have great coffee in the office…

I appreciate that there is a lot more of the UK north of London, so if there is an interest in this type of kit we can visit you for a chat (and drink your coffee.) Also this blog & Stratus has generated much interest outside of the UK, and I’m sure that invitation applies to any of our EMEA regional offices.

INMOTION 2009

INMOTION 2009 the UK housing event of the year takes place in Warkwickshire next week. I’m sure its not too late to register. If you are going be sure to check out the PBBI Stand as amongst other sweet technology Stratus Connect is on show and it doesn’t half look good on a Plasma.

Friday Afternoon Screenshots

Our technical engineers are up and running with Connect and here Rob Salmond has provided a couple more screenhsots. This follows on nicely from Chris’s recent tweet on Crime Profiler. If you are from Reading, or indeed intend to visit Reading – please note that all of the data here is entirely fictitious.

LI Logo 1.0 - Old School! (But I thought you might like it!)

You might have noticed that in our “Blog Roll” on the right hand side there is reference to a “Location Intelligence” blog. Well they are up and running now, and beginning to post.

Want to see some prototypes of our Web services platform being called over to an iPhone application? Or maybe you want to know what is coming up over the next few months? Perhaps you’re going to be interested in MapInfo Professional (and those guys are very excited about what they will bring this summer), or maybe it’s the developer kits that float your boat.

Of course, Stratus is the main event as always, and we’ll be keeping our blog alive and well, but go on over to the LI Blog from time to time to find out about the rest of our location/GIS portfolio and what they are up to.

Did I mention that Stratus Connect 2.0 is under way and will be coming to a browser near you this summer??

LinkedIn Stratus Group

The Stratus team have setup a new Stratus group at LinkedIn, unsurprisingly called PBBIStratus. Follow this link to join

This provides further channel of communication. The blog is still the place to read news fresh from the labs, but through the wonder that is RSS all blog posts & tweet’s are replicated through to the LinkedIn group. Wherever you choose to find news you will always be up to date, but perhaps the LinkedIn group may stimulate discussion and Connect you with other users. The linkedin group does not have any plans to replace the talklist or usergroup and is very much in the proof of concept/exploratory stage at the moment.

Initially this will be a closed group. We will need to approve membership when you request to join. Drop by and say hello,

We would love to hear your your thoughts on this either here on the blog or at the group, so don’t be shy. After all the modern web is about participation rather than publishing

Stratus Blog Confirms the way forward…

Add the Confirm blog to your RSS reader

Add the Confirm blog to your RSS reader

We’ve had a lot of great feedback from you about the blog, and some of you have posted some comments which is great as we look to build up a community area around it. We also have talked a lot about the benefits of this forum internally so some of our colleagues have followed suit.

If you noticed the twitter feed last week we saw that the “Confirm” team had set up a page. On Friday they made their first post and it can be found in the link below. I’ve added it to our “Blog Roll” (doesn’t pay to spell that wrong), so you can always find it from our page too.

I’m sure a lot of you in the UK are familiar with Confirm even if it’s a different department that manages that system, so please point your colleague to it (and of course to our blog). And if you’re not sure what Confirm is, then head right over there and have a look at their introductory post.

We’re also working closely with the Confirm team in forming closer product ties between Stratus and Confirm. If you want to know more about this, then just get in touch.
